Service Description

Mathematical ability varies greatly between children, and strong foundations are essential for future academic success. Gaps in number sense, problem-solving, or reasoning often go unnoticed until they begin to impact confidence and achievement in later years. Without early identification and intervention, these difficulties can persist, making it harder for children to keep up as the curriculum advances. Our Mathematics Test & Mathematics Age Assessment is designed to give parents a clear understanding of their child’s maths level, highlighting both strengths and areas for development. We assess key areas including: • Mathematical age benchmarking — establishing how your child’s skills compare to national expectations. • Number fluency and arithmetic — evaluating confidence with mental maths and calculations. • Problem-solving and reasoning — identifying how your child applies knowledge to new challenges. • Strengths and gaps — providing targeted recommendations for improvement. Following the assessment, parents receive a comprehensive report with clear insights into their child’s progress, along with practical strategies and next steps to support ongoing development. Frequently Asked Questions • What is a Mathematics Age Assessment? A test that measures a child’s maths ability relative to their age group, identifying both progress and gaps. • Why is it important? Identifying areas of difficulty can help families prioritise support and discuss practical next steps with their child's school. • What does the test involve? A mix of number fluency, problem-solving tasks, reasoning exercises, and mental arithmetic. • How often should my child be assessed? Annual or biannual assessments are recommended to track progress and adapt support. • Do I need to prepare my child? No special preparation is required, though practising puzzles, number games, and confidence-building activities can help. • What if my child is below expected level? We provide individualised recommendations, resources, and guidance to boost skills and confidence. • Are resources provided? Yes — we offer personalised learning plans, digital tools, and home-based activity ideas. The assessment and practical recommendations help families understand their child's mathematical learning, prioritise support and discuss next steps with the school.
