Service Description

Mathematical ability varies from child to child, and strong foundations are vital for long-term academic success. Many children struggle with number sense, mental arithmetic, or problem-solving, and without early identification these gaps can persist, affecting confidence and performance in later years. Our Mathematics Test & Mathematics Age Assessment (Retest Follow-Up) builds on the initial assessment to track value-added progress and measure the impact of interventions. This approach ensures that children not only receive targeted support but that families and educators can clearly see the results of that support over time. We assess key areas including: • Mathematical age benchmarking — establishing progress compared to national expectations. • Number fluency and arithmetic — evaluating improvements in core numeracy skills. • Problem-solving and reasoning — measuring how children apply strategies to new challenges. • Strengths and areas for further support — identifying whether gaps have been reduced since the first assessment. Following the follow-up test, parents receive a comprehensive comparative report. This outlines progress since the original assessment, highlights remaining areas of focus, and provides next steps for ongoing development. Frequently Asked Questions • Why is a follow-up assessment important? It helps review changes since the earlier assessment and consider whether support needs adjustment. Findings are interpreted in the wider educational context. • How often should my child be reassessed? A retest can be done annually or biannually, depending on the level of support required. • Does the test differ from the first assessment? The format remains consistent, but results are compared to track value-added progress. • What if progress is slower than expected? We provide updated recommendations, personalised resources, and strategies to support further learning. • What support will I receive after the follow-up? Parents receive a detailed action plan to continue strengthening mathematical skills at home and school. By comparing findings with the earlier assessment, we help families review progress, understand remaining areas for support and refine next steps. Changes in scores should be interpreted alongside the child's educational circumstances.
