Service Description

Student mental health has become one of the most significant challenges facing schools today. With rising levels of anxiety, stress, emotional dysregulation, and social pressure, schools are increasingly expected to provide not only academic instruction but also meaningful emotional support. Without a structured whole-school approach to mental health, schools risk higher behavioural incidents, reduced engagement, absenteeism, and lower academic achievement. At JLW Consultancy, our Mental Health & Wellbeing Support Service helps schools create supportive, emotionally safe environments where students feel understood, valued, and equipped to manage their emotions. We work with staff, leaders, parents, and external agencies to build a consistent, sustainable wellbeing strategy that meets the needs of all learners. Our approach focuses on early identification, preventative support, and empowering staff with the confidence and tools needed to respond effectively. By embedding wellbeing into the school culture—not just as a standalone initiative—schools can strengthen resilience, improve behaviour, and enhance overall student success. Our consultancy offers: • Whole-school mental health strategy development, ensuring a clear, unified approach that supports both preventative work and targeted intervention. • Teacher training and CPD on recognising early warning signs, emotional first aid, trauma-informed practices, and de-escalation techniques. • Creation of wellbeing spaces, including sensory rooms, reflection areas, and calm hubs where students can regulate emotions safely. • Mindfulness and stress management programmes, teaching students practical strategies such as breathing exercises, guided relaxation, and grounding techniques. • Peer mentoring and student-led support initiatives, helping students build strong connections and access trusted peer support. • Resilience and emotional regulation workshops, equipping students with coping skills, conflict resolution strategies, and self-awareness tools. • Parental engagement support, including workshops and guidance to help families reinforce emotional wellbeing at home. • Collaboration with external professionals, ensuring students benefit from joined-up support between school, CAMHS, counsellors, and local wellbeing services. By prioritising mental health and embedding emotional wellbeing into everyday school life, schools can create a compassionate, resilient, and high-performing learning.
