Service Description

Many parents want to play an active role in their child’s education but feel they lack the skills or confidence to do so effectively. Without the right knowledge, supporting homework, understanding school policies, or managing behaviour at home can feel challenging. Parent Workshops & Training sessions provide the tools and insights families need to turn everyday challenges into opportunities for learning and growth. At JLW Consultancy, we deliver interactive, practical workshops designed to help parents feel informed, confident, and ready to support their child’s education and wellbeing. We cover key topics such as: • Supporting children with ALN/SEND at home — practical strategies tailored to individual needs. • Effective advocacy skills — ensuring parents can confidently represent their child’s interests at school. • Understanding education law and policy — clarifying rights and responsibilities. • Behaviour and emotional regulation — helping children manage feelings and build resilience. Our workshops are designed to be accessible and flexible, with options for in-person sessions, live virtual training, or recorded modules parents can watch in their own time. Frequently Asked Questions • What workshops do you offer? ALN/SEND support, advocacy, behaviour management, home learning, and education policy guidance. • How will this help at home? You’ll gain practical techniques to make homework easier, manage behaviour, and strengthen school communication. • Are sessions available online? Yes — we run live and recorded virtual workshops for busy parents. • Are there workshops specifically for ALN/SEND? Yes — we provide targeted support for parents of children with additional needs. • Can attending improve advocacy skills? Absolutely — we teach structured communication methods for school meetings and reviews. • Is funding available? We can advise on free or low-cost opportunities through schools or local authorities. • How can I apply what I learn? By implementing the strategies discussed — from homework routines to behaviour plans — parents can see immediate, positive changes. By offering structured, expert-led training, we empower parents to actively support their child’s education and development. Whether in person or online, our workshops give families the knowledge and confidence to create lasting impact at home and in partnership with schools.
