Service Description

Strong reading skills are essential for every child’s learning journey. After an initial assessment and targeted support, it is important to check whether strategies are working and if reading progress is on track. Our Reading Test & Reading Age Assessment (Retest Follow-Up) provides a clear, detailed measure of progress since the original assessment. By comparing new results with previous data, parents can see exactly how much growth has taken place and which areas may still need attention. This follow-up assessment: • Re-measures your child’s reading age and benchmarks against age-related expectations. • Tracks value-added progress to show improvement in decoding, fluency, and comprehension. • Highlights remaining gaps and provides updated, practical next steps. • Gives reassurance that interventions and strategies are having the desired impact. Ideal for families who have already completed an initial Reading Test & Reading Age Assessment, this retest offers evidence of progress and helps refine home or school support plans. Frequently Asked Questions • Why book a follow-up assessment? To confirm whether targeted reading strategies and interventions are improving skills. • How does it differ from the first test? The format remains similar, but results are compared to show measurable growth. • When should a retest be done? Typically after a school term or six months, depending on the child’s support plan. • Do I need to prepare my child? No — the assessment is designed to reflect natural reading development. • What if progress is slower than expected? We provide revised strategies, updated reading plans, and specific resources to accelerate improvement. By offering a comprehensive follow-up assessment, we help parents and schools ensure that every child’s reading journey is moving forward — building confidence, fluency, and a lasting love of reading.
