Service Description

very child with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) has a unique set of strengths, challenges, and educational requirements. Yet many parents struggle to find tailored advice that truly fits their child’s needs. Without expert guidance, it can be difficult to know whether a child is receiving the correct provision or how to advocate for appropriate support. Parents often encounter obstacles such as: • Understanding school policies and their child’s legal entitlements. • Securing necessary adjustments and interventions. • Managing behavioural, social, or academic concerns without a clear plan. Our One-to-One ALN Support Meetings provide personalised, expert advice through flexible online consultations. We work directly with families to build confidence and create practical, step-by-step strategies for securing the right educational support. During these sessions we: • Assess your child’s specific needs and identify areas requiring support. • Develop strategies for working with schools and teachers, ensuring communication is constructive and effective. • Guide you through IDP or EHCP processes (Individual Development Plans in Wales, Education, Health and Care Plans in England). • Recommend tailored interventions and resources, including classroom accommodations and specialist support. • Answer any questions about learning progress, behaviour, or next steps. We also provide advice on Special Educational Needs (SEN) documentation, including how to: • Request assessments and prepare evidence. • Submit and track IDP or EHCP applications. • Ensure schools implement agreed support plans. • Challenge decisions through appeals and reviews when necessary. Frequently Asked Questions • How do I start the process for an IDP or EHCP? We guide you on gathering evidence and making a formal request to the school or local authority. • What documentation is required? Teacher reports, medical assessments, and previous records help build a strong application. • Can private assessments help? Yes — independent reports can provide valuable evidence. • How long does the process take? Typically several months from the initial request to final decision. • How often should plans be reviewed? At least annually, or sooner if needs change. • What if school support is not being delivered? We help you follow up and ensure plans are implemented correctly.
