Service Description

Strong spelling skills are key to confident writing and long-term literacy. After an initial spelling assessment and targeted support, it’s important to check whether interventions are working and to celebrate progress. Our Spelling Test & Spelling Age Assessment (Retest Follow-Up) gives parents a clear, detailed measure of improvement since the first assessment. By comparing new results with earlier data, you can see exactly how much growth has taken place and identify any areas that still need support. This follow-up service: • Re-measures your child’s spelling age, comparing progress to age-related expectations. • Tracks value-added improvement, highlighting gains in phonics, spelling accuracy, and word retention. • Identifies remaining gaps and provides updated strategies for continued progress. • Confirms the impact of interventions, offering reassurance that learning plans are effective. It’s ideal for families who have already completed an initial Spelling Test & Spelling Age Assessment and want clear evidence of growth over time. Frequently Asked Questions • Why book a follow-up assessment? To check whether interventions and practice are improving spelling skills. • How does it differ from the first test? The structure is similar, but results are compared directly to measure progress. • When should a retest be done? Typically after a school term or around six months, depending on learning goals. • What if progress is slower than expected? We provide updated strategies, resources, and support to accelerate improvement. • Do I need to prepare my child? No special preparation is needed — the aim is to see natural development over time. By offering a comprehensive follow-up assessment, we help parents and schools ensure that spelling interventions are effective and that every child continues to build the strong literacy foundations they need for future success.
